Application of 3D technology in ecological reconstruction of fossil insects

The applications and technique of 3D technology in ecological reconstruction of fossil insects are introduced. It mainly includes three aspects: three-dimensional insect modeling, scene design and artistic ambiance. Major operational procedures of the relevant softwares are discussed in details. The experience and skills of combining biology, computer technology and arts in reconstruction of fossil insects are summarized. These technologies have many potential applications in future palaeoentomological research.
