The discovery that the pheromone of California prionus is attractive to other economically important species of Prionus root borers plus its commercial availability and the ease of trapping with panel traps, lead to field trials of the pheromone in Georgia pecan orchards to measure: the attractancy to broad necked root borer and tilehorned prionus; the efficacy of a soil surface treatment with chlorpyrifos; and, the seasonal emergence patterns in commercial orchards.
