Atherigona reversura Villenueve (Diptera:Muscidae),  a member of the muscid shoot fly genus, was recently introduced into North America. First discovered in Georgia, the fly has the potential to become a substantial threat to bermudagrass hay fields throughout much of the southern U.S. Little is known about the population dynamics of this fly. Various sampling techniques are described with correlated information such as time of year, temperature ranges, and mowing regimens. Population estimates based on these techniques are detailed with implications for IPM programs.
