The longhorned beetle genus Monochamus includes a multitude of gymnosperm and angiosperm feeding species. This genus causes hundreds of millions in timber damage annually across the world. This initial phylogenetic work explores the relationships of these species and how this may align with current taxonomy, hostplant preference and climate induced geographic separation. A new phylogeny based on mitochondrial and nuclear markers will be presented.
