The toxicities of tenekil, termidor and terminus against Microtermes obesi in soil were compared. Different concentrations of insecticides were used to evaluate the repellent concentration and compare the F-1 (0.97) mortality. Termidor took less than 8h to achieve 97% mortality whereas tenekil and terminus took more than 8h at higher concentrations. The LC50 value for termidor treated soil was 3.155 ppm, for terminus 7.816 ppm and 114.55 ppm for tenekil treated soil, against M. obesi in an 8h assay. Tenekil had shown repellent effects at 200 ppm and higher doses, termidor was repellent at 100 and 50 ppm whereas terminus was repellent at 500 and 250 ppm.
Taking together these findings we can conclude and suggest that that termidor is more effective at lower doses both as toxicant and repellent insecticides when compared with tenekil and terminus.
