A 2-week course is offered at the Kellogg Biological Station during the summer to provide students with first-hand experience in the field of biomonitoring of streams and rivers. It includes sections on environmental stream chemistry, fish identification, algal ecology, microbial ecology, habitat assessment, functional group assessment, biomonitoring indices, and taxonomy of major insect groups. During the end of the second week, the class is given a stream to assess based on what they have learned during the first week. They present their results on the last day.
