The burrowing water beetle genus Liocanthydrus (Guignot, 1957) is revised. Four known species, L. angustus (Guignot, 1957), L. buqueti (Laporte, 1834), L. octoguttatus (Zimmerman, 1921), L. uniformis (Zimmerman, 1921) are redesribed. Also as the result of a collaborative effort in examination of the type specimens, the Noterid genus Siolius, Belfour-Browne, 1969 is synonomized with Liocanthydrus and the three species described in Siolius are investigated to assess the validity of names. Descriptions of new species discovered in the observed material are provided. Diagnostic characters are illustrated.
