Environmental interactions data in support of environmental risk assessment of genetically enhanced crops

Environmental interaction evaluations are included as part of a plant characterization study to assess plant interaction with the receiving environment. The environmental interaction evaluations include collection of plant response to abiotic stressors, disease damage, arthropod damage, and arthropod abundance data.  These data are used to characterize the genetically enhanced plant relative to the conventional control. The design of plant characterization studies allows for the utilization of the same basic design across crops, product concept, and world areas, though details can be customized based on a case by case basis to meet varying regulatory requirements.  These evaluations are conducted outside of the tiered system and are supportive of the environmental risk assessment.
