Butterfly beauties and dragonfly damsels

This specialized artistic style reached its height during a forty year period spanning the late Victorian, Art Nouveau and Art Deco periods, when artists and sculptors added insect wings to the human form to create romantic, fairy-like images in porcelain, glass and paintings.  Several of the more notable artisans and their creations are summarized.
