A tenebrionoid beetle (Coleoptera) that could not be easily placed in any existing family or subfamily, was collected in a malaise trap residue from Belize. At least six additional species of this enigmatic taxon are now under description, from seven countries across South and Central America. The new taxon is presented to the community, and its systematic position discussed.
