SIVANTO™, a new systemic insecticide from the butenolide chemical class, is active on a broad range of sucking insect pests. Biological efficacy studies conducted within the US since 2007 by internal and external scientists on an array of annual and perennial crops have shown high levels of efficacy against various species of aphids, leafhoppers, psyllids, certain species of scales, thrips, and whiteflies. A unique property of SIVANTO is its strong and rapid feeding cessation effect from both soil and foliar applications; this often leads to a dramatic reduction in vectored plant pathogen acquisition and transmission by sucking insect pests, promoting a higher level of plant health and higher quality and increased yield. Submitted for global joint review in 2012, registration is being pursued on many annual and perennial crops.
