0488 How do hemipteran generalist predators induce anti-herbivory resistance in tomato?
Monday, November 14, 2011: 11:15 AM
Room A12, First Floor (Reno-Sparks Convention Center)
In previous studies, we examined how 2 Hemipteran predaceous species may induce the expression of anti-herbivory genes controlled by the jasmonic acid pathway in tomato. The proteinase inhibitor 2 (pin2) was especially responsive to the presence of these predators. We are now investigating which clues linked to the presence of predaceous species can trigger the expression of resistance genes. We are also exploring in what extent this induction may actually affect the fitness of herbivores arriving on plants after their natural enemies.
