0845 Increasing the longevity of palm weevil traps
Tuesday, November 15, 2011: 10:20 AM
Room A1, First Floor (Reno-Sparks Convention Center)
Optimal trapping weevils in the genus Rhynchophorus requires aggregation pheromone, ethyl acetate and food based baits. The latter are prone to degradation and loss of activity prior to the pheromone and ethyl acetate. This presentation will show trapping of Rhynchophorus palmarum with aggregation pheromone, ethyl acetate and new fermentation based baits that appear to be good candidates for further development as replacements for presently used food baits.
