Given the extreme deluge of digitally borne data, many librarians, scientists and scholars have recognized the need for a standardized means of effectively collocating and accessing information. Accessing this information requires the development and implementation of digital repositories designed to not only locate data, but also allow for ingest, dissemination and long term storage. These repositories provide access to the contemporary research but must also provide access to the historical literature that has shaped the field.
