The cuticular hydrocarbon profiles of Dolichovespula arenaria workers were examined using gas-chromatography/ mass spectrometry. Cuticular hydrocarbons were extracted from forty individual workers representing four different colonies. Results indicate that wasps could be grouped by colony. Additionally, the cuticular hydrocarbon composition was determined for D. arenaria workers.
