A review of Camptocerus Dejean (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae)

The xylomycetophagous Neotropical bark beetle genus Camptocerus Dejean is unique among the three phleophagous genera in the subtribe Scolytina. Camptocerus is currently comprised of 21 valid species however, recent findings have revealed that there may as many as 40 species. Adult morphological characters were scored for 44 operational taxonomic units and a phylogeny is presented to test species validity and monophyly of the genus.
