New molecular and morphological data are presented regarding the relationships of the jewel wasps Nasonia and their nearest relatives in the family Pteromalidae, including a new phylogeny of the subfamily Pteromalinae with focus upon the genera closely related to Nasonia. The impact of these discoveries upon genomic research, and nomenclatural snafus are discussed.
