Insect scouting records from a large production farm were used to examine the temporal and spatial distribution of Helicoverpa zea and Heliothis virescens in relation to various agricultural hosts. The influence of surrounding crop types on immature stages in cotton was examined. Although egg populations in cotton were not randomly distributed across the farm, the crop type surrounding a particular cotton field had little influence on these populations.
Species 1: Lepidoptera Noctuidae
Helicoverpa zea (corn earworm, bollworm)
Species 2: Lepidoptera Noctuidae
Heliothis virescens (tobacco budworm)
