Brief overviews of the familial and subfamilial relationships of Pyrochroidae and Pyrochroinae are provided, along with anatomical characterizations of larval and adult stages of Pyrochroinae. This background information is followed by a brief generic synopsis of the world’s 14 (+1) Pyrochroinae. The tour of generic diversity includes illustrations of each genus, an indication of species richness, and brief note relating to the geographical distribution of each genus.
