Diversity of Zopheridae (Coleoptera: Tenebrionoidea):  Ecological and geographical perspective

Adam Slipinski, Adam.Slipinski@csiro.au, CSIRO Entomology, GPO Box 1700, Canberra, ACT, Australia

The family Zopheridae has a world-wide distribution and includes 2 subfamilies, Zopherinae and Colydiinae with approximately 200 genera. Species of Zopheridae occupy various ecological niches and this is expressed by their diverse, often bizarre morphologies. Using current hypotheses of phylogeny of Zopheridae the talk explores various morphological/ecological adaptations of adults and larvae and diversity and radiations in various geographical regions.
