A new genus of bark beetle (Curculionidae: Scolytinae: Bothrosternina) from Ecuador

A new genus of bark beetle (Curculionidae: Scolytinae: Bothrosternina), collected in Ecuador is described. This genus has a remarkable character of the scutellum, which is unlike any other known species of Scolytinae. Preliminary phylogenetic placement of the genus within Bothrosternina is also presented.
