Arthropod community comparison among cotton, beans, and alfalfa in the San Joaquin Valley

Jay Bancroft, jsbancroft@pw.ars.usda.gov, USDA-ARS, 17053 N. Shafter Av, Shafter, CA

Arthropod communities were compared in upland cotton, black-eyed beans, and alfalfa. Several sampling techniques were used to account for differences of plant structure. Differences due to prevalent herbivores were apparent in each crop. Alfalfa supported a large generalist natural enemy community.
