Site-specific management tactics for viburnum leaf beetle

Paul A. Weston, paw23@cornell.edu and Gaylord Desurmont, gd53@cornell.edu. Cornell University, Department of Entomology, Ithaca, NY

Viburnum leaf beetle is a major pest in landscapes and natural areas in an ever-increasing portion of the northeastern U.S. If susceptible plants are not protected, they are killed by the beetle within a few years of an infestation. We have evaluated a variety of managment options, and have identified several that can effectively limit damage by the beetle. The choice of managment method depends on the degree of control required and the tolerance of the end-user for broad-spectrum insecticides.
