Improvements were made to existing electroantennogram techniques used to examine volatiles to which mosquitoes are sensitive, using Culex pipiens quinquefasciatusas a representative species. The new technique results in much clearer, unambiguous electroantennogram responses compared to those obtained with previous methods. This technique will expedite research on mosquito semiochemicals such as host volatiles and oviposition attractants.

Species 1: Diptera Culicidae Culex quinquefasciatus (southern house mosquito)
Keywords: electroantennogram, host volatiles
