Potato tuber moth (PTM) is a key potato crop pest in subtropical and Mediterranean areas. Somatic hybrids tbr (+) pnt showed good resistance levels. In resistant clones, larval feeding is followed by an early mortality, apparently associated to a strong anthocyanin reaction. Two tetraploid clones, the moderately resistant clone H256-1 (+) BGRC 008168-62 (clone 62) and the resistant H256-1 (+) BGRC 008168-6 (clone 6), were used in 4 experiments aimed to manipulate and dissect resistance by larval feeding, physical and chemical factors.
