Phylogeny of 28 representative taxa, representing 5 subfamilies and 22 genera, of tachyporine group taxa were studied using fragments of the genes wingless, 18S, 12S and 16S, as well as 120 morphological characters. Phylogenetic analyses are presented based on combinations molecular data from the gene fragments and molecular data combined with morphological data. Conclusions include: the Tachyproinae are not monophyletic; the Phleoecharinae are consistently recovered within the Tachyporinae; the tachyporine tribe Mycetoporini is part of a monophyletic lineage with the subfamilies Tricophyinae, Habrocerinae and Aleocharinae; the aleocharine tribes Gymnusini and Deinopsini together are a monophyletic group, but each is not monophyletic as currently configured.
