Phylogenetic revision of the subfamily Cenocoeliinae (Hymenoptera: Braconidae)

Kevin M. Pitz, kmpitz2@uky.edu and Michael J. Sharkey, msharkey@uky.edu. University of Kentucky, Department of Entomology, S-225 Agriculture Science Center North, Lexington, KY

The subfamily Cenocoeliinae is a small clade of 65 described species in 7 genera within the family Braconidae. This group has not previously been subjected to phylogenetic analyses. Due to this lack of phylogenetic framework, prior taxonomic revisions have established and supported genera using suites of characters rather than autapomorphies. We have collected over 4000 base pairs of sequence data for over 85 ingroup and outgroup taxa. This phylogenetic study uses multiple molecular markers to elucidate generic limits and relationships between species of Cenocoeliinae and proposes morphological characteristics to diagnose genera.

Species 1: Hymenoptera Braconidae
Keywords: Phylogenetics, Parasitic wasps
