A new Paratrechina sp. has been discovered in Pasadena, TX. The current range of this exotic species is described. A laboratory bioassay was conducted to determine the susceptibility of this urban pest to a new insecticide, Dinotefuran®. Workers were found to be quite susceptible to most doses. The LD50 value for Dinotefuran®, calculated by log/probit regression line method, was 0.0003% (0.00008 – 0.0008) a.i. These results may justify the use of Dinotefuran® for Paratrechina x control.
