Bracon cephi (Gahan) and B. lissogaster Muesebeck are host specific larval parasitoids of the wheat stem sawfly, Cephus cinctus Norton. A reliable source of these parasitoids is needed for our inoculative release program. Large walk-in screen field cages were used to confine sawflies and parasitoids on wheat. Factors affecting successful establishment of sawflies in wheat and subsequent attack by parasitoids were tested. The treatments were 1) light, 2) food, 3) light plus food, and 4) control. The amount of light was increased by adding transparent windows which transmit visible and UV light. The food supplement was honey-water contained in vials and also nectar from flowering canola and sweet clover planted in the cages. Statistical analysis determined if significant variation in sawfly infestation and parasitization occurred between the different treatments and the control.
