The NPDN diagnostics subcommittee

Karen Snover-Clift, kls13@cornell.edu, Cornell University, Department of Plant Pathology, 334 Plant Science Bldg, Ithaca, NY

The diagnostics subcommittee has developed into a group that focuses on the issues of diagnostics, resources, communication, sample testing and processing, identification workshops, training materials, and reporting procedures specifically for diagnosticians across the country. The group is currently made up of at least one representative plant disease diagnostician from each region, a representative from industry, and a representative from our professional society. Over the past two years we have created standard operating procedures for high priority pathogens, worked with USDA/APHIS to establish a communications and sample processing guidelines, assisted our members in the permitting process, and organized a number of advanced level training events. As the NPDN expands, we hope to add to our membership.
