John G. Franclemont and his family of students

Richard L. Brown, moth@ra.msstate.edu, Mississippi Entomological Museum, Box 9775, Mississippi State, MS

For more than 35 years students of systematics at Cornell University sought the guidance of the late Professor Franclemont, even after his official retirement in 1977. He added to the legacy obtained from his own advisor, W.T.M. Forbes, with an acquired knowledge of field biology and modern methods in systematics. His office and home were always open to students, hungry for wisdom or food that was always served with wit and encouragement.
