FMC Specialty Products Business has tested a new, novel, neonicotinoid for the control of subterranean termites. F5025 is a 70WP formulation, which mixes readily in water and has been found to be non-repellent to termites. When applied to the soil, F5025 killed termites at soil concentrations as low as 3 ppm. F5025 has demonstrated transmission between treated and untreated termites resulting in delayed mortality within the termite population. USDA Forest Service field trials have resulted in 100% protection of wood blocks where the soil was treated with concentrations of commercial interest.
