Consumption of mulches of different composition and age by Reticulitermes flavipes (Isoptera: Rhinotermitidae) pseudergates were compared in no-choice and multi-choice tests under laboratory conditions. Seven commercially-available wood mulches were aged outdoors for 0, 3, or 12 months and compared for palatability using mean differences in mulch weight, pseudergate weight, and pseudergate mortality before and after feeding. Differences in mulch consumption and pseudergate fitness will be presented.

Species 1: Isoptera Rhinotermitidae Reticulitermes flavipes
Keywords: Mulch consumption
