Enterobacter agglomerans and Klebsiella spp. are the dominant bacteria isolated from many pest tephritids, and have been the focus of understanding tephritid-bacteria interactions. Bacteria that are not consistently isolated from tephritid digestive tracts or that are isolated often but in low numbers may also provide useful information about tephritid biology, such as feeding site, food preference, and meal history.
