The objective of this study was to determine whether native plants can be used to sustain populations of natural enemies and other endemic insects in ornamental landscapes. We planted 10 species of native plants and 10 species of closely related ornamental cultivars to compare their attractiveness to insects. Insects were samples throughout the season to measure their response to plant species. We also quantified production of floral resources, and the structures and relative abundances of floral volatiles, to determine the qualities of plant species that the different guilds of insects preferred.
