Noviflumuron, a benzoylurea chitin synthesis inhibitor, was tested against Red Imported Fire Ant (Solenopsis invicta), Carpenter Ant (Camponotus spp.), Pharaoh Ant (Monomorium pharaonis), Odorous House Ant (Tapinoma sessile), Argentine Ant (Linepithema humile), and White-footed Ant (Technomyrmex albipes) to determine the potential for the development of ant control product concepts or control systems. Against these ant pests, noviflumuron exhibited effects that were detrimental to either the colony by reduced brood development and survival, queen fecundity, and worker mortality. Noviflumuron, used either alone or in combination with other active ingredients, can be used as the basis for the development of future products and control systems for the management of pest ant species. A summary of this research will be presented.

Species 1: Hymenoptera Formicidae Solenopsis invicta (red imported fire ant)
Species 2: Hymenoptera Formicidae Camponotus spp (carpenter ants)
Species 3: Hymentoptera Formicidae Monomorium pharaonis (pharaoh ant)
Keywords: noviflumuron, product development
