The Neotropical genus Hypomicrogaster (Braconidae: Microgastrinae) was described by Ashmead in 1898. The present study revises the faunistic composition of the genus and at the same time evaluates the phylogenetic relationships within the subfamily Microgastrinae with the use of molecular markers (16S, 28S and COI) and morphology in a combined analysis. The biogeography of the genus will be discussed as well as the ecology of the known species in the context of the phylogeny.
