The use of reduced chemical treatments for termite control has become extremely popular. The efficacy of this treatment method was evaluated using imidacloprid (Premise 75 WSP). An exterior liquid treatment was applied to nineteen houses with an active Eastern subterranean termite, Reticulitermes flavipes (Kollar) infestation. A foaming agent was used to treat interior infestation areas. Evaluation of the treatment was conducted with the use of termite detecting canines and visual inspections.
Species 1: Isoptera Rhinotermitidae
Reticulitermes flavipes (Eastern Subterranean termite)
Keywords: termite, imidacloprid

In assessing Bayer's product Premise 75, it appears that termites immediately appear ill and the rest of the colony avoids these sickly acting insects. Thus, Premise's "domino effect" advertised depends on "cannibal" activity of the dead termites. My question is -- Are drywood termites "cannibalistic"?

My brick home was treated with premise 75 for preventive termite control. They drilled in the mortar of the bricks about 12 inches apart. They did not fill the holes because they said it was better to leave them open. Needless to say it is unsitely, is it better to leave the holes open.
Also we are detecting a smell in the house from the chemical, is that o.k.?
Thank you,
