The Asian citrus psyllid Diaphorina citri Kuwayama was recorded for southern and central Asia, Saudi Arabia, USA (Florida, Texas), South America and Central America (Honduras). Besides the direct damage, D. citri can trasmit the bacterium Liberobacter asiaticum, a pathogen causing the citrus greening, a devastating disease in other regions. In Mexico, the first two authors of this report found this important pest on Mexican lime leaves in Cd. Victoria, Tamaulipas, in July 17, 2003, being the first record for Mexico. Then, they found this psyllid in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, in January 22, 2004, and again in February 2004 on Valencia oranges and Mexican lime leaves in Victoria. Recently, it was found in other two states, San Luis Potosi and Queretaro, in central Mexico. Moreover, in August 2003, several parasitoids of the genus Tamarixia (Eulophidae) emerged from samples of this psyllid on Mexican lime in Cd. Victoria, Tam. Tamarixia radiata, an exotic D. citri natural enemy has not been introduced in Tamaulipas.
