In this study synthetic (Z,Z,E)3,6,8-dodecatrien-1-ol was
used to perform a quantitative and qualitative analysis of
the trail following behavior in Reticulitermes hesperus. Trail following behavior in response to trails laid by individual worker termite was compared with trail laid by larger number of worker termites. At the end a comparison was made with synthetic pheromone to speculate the threshold levels of this chemical in the trails of worker termites.
