Coptotermes gestroi (Isoptera : Rhinotermitidae) is one of the most important subterranean termite pest species attacking urban structures in Malaysia and Thailand of South East Asia. Field efficacy of Recruit III termite bait (0.5% noviflumuron, Dow AgroSciences LLC) against 13 colonies of C. gestroi infesting residential premises was studied. Of these, three colonies were characterized using the triple-mark-recapture method prior to baiting. Foraging territories ranged between 23.0 - 1152 m2 with maximum foraging distances of 7.5 - 74.5m per colony. Colony size ranged from 1.59 - 4.81 million workers. Wood or paper consumption of all colonies was determined at pre-baiting, baiting and post-baiting at independent monitoring stations. Baiting against the termite colonies was conducted using either Recruit III in-ground or above ground station delivered baits. Colonies were eliminated 29-80 days upon baiting after consuming 8.7 - 141.0g of Recruit III bait which is equivalent to 43.7 - 705mg of noviflumuron. No new termite activity was found after one year following colony elimination.
