Lygus sp. are pests of cotton. In Kern County California, we measured seasonal abundance and dispersal of Lygus in order to develop models and management strategies. We performed mark-recapture experiments over the last two summers and performed a large area survey of Lygus abundance. The model uses published knowledge and sources of ancillary environmental data to improve model performance. I show how multiple approaches may provide a synthesis for understanding movement in this system and how this may be applied to other systems.

Species 1: Hemiptera Miridae Lygus hesperus (western tarnished plant bug)
