The stable fly is the most important pest threatening the livestock industry, particularly in the Midwestern areas of Kansas ans Nebraska. Changes in management of range cattle have provided habitats for stable flies that did not previously exist. Flies appear in large numbers with summer rains and damage to livestock can be significant.
