Monitoring seasonality of sap beetles (Nitidulidae) in oak woodlands in central Missouri using different bait traps

Francis Lloyd, W. Terrell Stamps, and Marc J. Linit. University of Missouri, Agriculture Bldg, Columbia, MO

Four commonly used baits were used to trap and monitor adult population changes of sap beetles at four woodland sites in central Missouri. The baits used were banana, fermenting bread dough, 5% fermenting molasses solution and 5% fermenting malt solution. One of each bait trap was placed at each of four sites within each of four woodland areas, (giving 64 traps in total). Tree species composition of each site was recorded. Traps were emptied weekly from April through November, and charged with fresh bait.

Species 1: Coleoptera Nitidulidae Glischrochilus fasciatus (sap beetle)
Keywords: bait trapping
