The ecology and life history of Mutillidae (Hymenoptera) species found in central Texas

Melissa K. Layton, Biological Sciences, Sam Houston State University, Biological Sciences, SHSU - Biological Sciences, Huntsville, TX

Observations were made to determine the daily activities of several species of mutillid. These organisms were observed over the course of several months at various sites. The ecology was looked at in terms of the habitat, diet, and predators. The life histories of the mutillids were also investigated by studying how they find potential hosts and what species are used as hosts.

Species 1: Hymenoptera Mutillidae Dasymutilla
Species 2: Hymenoptera Mutillidae Pseudomethoca
Species 3: Hymenoptera Mutillidae Timulla
Keywords: parasitoid ecology
