Pheromone-baited traps are often used to monitor population dynamics of the European corn borer, Ostrinia nubilalis (Hübner). Fluctuations in trap captures may be confounded by factors other than changes in the size of European corn borer populations. We examined the differences in trap captures among Intercept™ wing traps, Intercept™ bucket/funnel UNI traps, and Hartstack wire-mesh cone traps. Additionally, we examined the influence of wind speed and wind direction on moth captures, and whether placement of traps on the windward or leeward side of a tree line affects trap captures.
