Jeffrey K. Barnes, The Arthropod Museum, Department of Entomology, University of Arkansas, The Arthropod Museum, Department of Entomology, 319 Agriculture Building, Fayetteville, AR

Before the present study was initiated, only 37 species of robber flies from Arkansas had been recorded in the literature. The state's checklist now contains names of nearly 100 species. About 55 percent of Arkansas' species (excluding leptogastrines) also occur in Kansas, which has a fauna of 122 confirmed and 14 possible species. Less than 40 percent of Akransas' species also occur in Michigan, which has a fauna of 72 confirmed and 7 possible species. Some plains species have been discovered in Arkansas prairie remnants. Illustrated keys to Arkansas species are in preparation.

Species 1: Diptera Asilidae
