José Luis Navarrete-Heredia, Centro de Estudios en Zoología, Universidad de Guadalajara, Centro de Estudios en Zoología, Apdo. Postal 234, Zapopan, Jalisco, Mexico

The genus Xenopygus (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) was described by Bernhuaer (1906). At present, four species are recognized: X. analis (Erichson), X. bicolor (Laporte), X. confusus Irmler, and X. cordovensis Bernhauer. Xenopyus peruvianus (Solsky) cited in Herman (2001) is a synonym of X. bicolor as was stated by Irmler (1982). In this paper, new distributional data primarily from South America are provided. Taxonomic position of X. cordovensis in this genus is also discussed.

Species 1: Coleoptera Staphylinidae Xenopygus analis
Species 2: Coleoptera Staphylinidae Xenopygus bicolor
Species 3: Coleoptera Staphylinidae Xenopygus confusus
