Evaluation of methoprene combined with diatomaceous earth to control the lesser grain borer (Coleoptera: Bostrichidae) in stored wheat

Frank Arthur, Grain Marketing and Production Research Center, USDA-ARS, Grain Marketing and Production Research Center, 1515 College Ave, Manhattan, KS

Adult lesser grain borers, Rhyzopertha dominica, were exposed on wheat treated with combinations of methoprene and commercial diatomaceous earth (DE). Survival decreased with increasing concentration of DE, and was greater at 75 than at 57% relative humidity. Only wheat treated without methoprene contained F1 adults.

Species 1: Coleoptera Bostrichidae Rhyzopertha dominica (lesser grain borer)
Keywords: methoprene, diatomaceous earth
