Molecular phylogeny of intertribal relationships of Aphelininae (Hym.: Chalcidoidea)

Jung-Wook Kim and John M. Heraty. University of California, Entomology, 3401 Watkins. Dr, Riverside, CA

This study covers four gene regions (28S-D2 and D3 rDNA, and mitochondrial COI and COII) to discover the relationships of tribes of Aphelininae and suggest a possible hypothesis of the relationship based on the molecules. Objectives of this study are : assessing the monophyly of Aphelininae; disputing the monophyly of Aphytini (which was not supported in a previous morphological study); redefining the monophyly of Aphytis (which has not been questioned, but never proved to be monophyletic), and the phylogenetic relationships of the tribes in Aphelininae.

Species 1: Hymenoptera Aphelininae Aphytis
Keywords: Classification
